New business:   None

Program:

Speaker Steve Rypka, Green Living Consultant, Green Dream Enterprises, states his business focuses on four subjects:  green building, alternative transportation, renewable energy and lifestyle choices.  Topics such as window orientation, safe coat paint and PET carpet (that prevent off-gassing), plug-in hybrid vehicles, and alternative public transportation were discussed during the presentation.  A question and answer period followed the presentation.

The second featured speaker, Scot Rutledge, introduced the club to the non-partisan group the Nevada Conservation League whose efforts focus on the environment.   He stressed that the term clean coal is nonsense and that club members should stand behind Senator Harry Reid’s effort to squash the building of additional power plants in the state.  Red Rock Democratic Club participants should contact their State Senators and Assembly members to protest the plan to build new coal burning power plants in the state. Renewable energy sources should be sought.
